A presentation took place at the Thongsbridge Army Cadet Unit on Thursday 4th April 2013.
After reading a report in the Huddersfield Examiner, Dr Jan Telensky, a generous supporter of the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, replaced items of IT equipment stolen from the unit at the beginning of March.
Unfortunately, Dr Telensky was involved in a long traffic jam on his journey from Luton to Huddersfield and was unable to attend the presentation. His colleague Terry Butterworth made a short speech on his behalf and handed over the IT equipment to Mr Mick Wroe who presented the equipment to the Cadets in memory of his son Tom.

Tom, a former Cadet from this Unit, was shot and fatally wounded by a rogue Afghan Local Policeman at Checkpoint Tora in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province, on 15 September 2012. Mr Wroe, a former Sergeant in the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, was accompanied by his wife Claire and daughter Demi, who has now joined Thongsbridge Cadet Unit.
